Our Board of Directors

Carolina Bible Camp is led by many Christian servants who give their time as summer camp counselors, workers, volunteers, and supporters. The mission of CBC is entrusted to a Board of Directors who are committed to carrying on the traditions and values of Christian youth camping in North Carolina. These servants come from all across our state and are engaged at CBC in a variety of ways.

David Allgood

"Every summer has its own memories, and each week is special. One of my favorite memories is of a very scared camper who was acting all bowed up and tough on Sunday. I remember Dennis and me sharing that we might have a little trouble out of him. Little did we know that God worked with him that week and he was a model camper. We watched his heart melt as the week continued and he became one of my favorite campers. Another special thing is watching campers become staff and then their children become campers.  One family Week 2 has three generations represented."

David began volunteering at CBC in 1982 and has been a counselor, teacher, kitchen volunteer, head counselor, and assistant director. He currently serves as the director for Week 2, as a volunteer at the Bluegrass Festival, and as chairman of the board.

David and his wife, Kathy, have been married since 1996 and have 4 children who all attended as campers. Two of their sons have been counselors while Kathy has served in the kitchen for many years and is a big help to him as chairman. David is an elder at  Fuquay-Varina church of Christ in Fuquay-Varina, NC. He is president of DavidSon Home Crafters, Inc, a small building company that focuses mainly on residential building and remodeling, doing limited commercial jobs as well.

Forrest Boozer

“Some of the most valuable relationships I have as an adult were developed here at CBC. The quality of the people who come here to work and the examples they set are humbling and something I look up to and hope to carry in my life when away from camp. For me, this is where I see the church working together at its best. Another great memory was having my youngest daughter's wedding in the shelter on Halloween and her reception in the cafeteria. There are lots of great memories from camp, slip-n-slide behind the cafeteria, water-balloon fights at Week 7, Freddy Pace's late-night cuisine, the singing at late-night counselor devos... There is so much more I could say!”

Forrest first attended CBC as a camper in 1977 and has also served as a counselor and teacher. Forrest is currently the athletic director for Week 1, a teacher for Week 7, a volunteer at the Bluegrass Festival, and serves on the fundraising committee of the board.

Forrest and his wife, Geri, have been married since 1987. Geri served as the Week 1 craft director for several years, and their 3 children have come as campers, kitchen workers, and junior counselors. Forrest is the deacon of benevolence at Cary church of Christ in Cary, NC, and has been a software developer in R&D at SAS Institute for 35 years. It is a great company that values it’s employees in an industry that has seen incredible growth and change.

Greg Brewer

“When I was 8 years old, I first came to CBC for a week with my mother who was serving as the camp nurse. At that time, the camp was not in its current permanent location. I remember my mother treating quite a few bee stings that week. We used to hike to the top of the mountain and drink out of the spring. Back then, camp moved periodically like gypsies until some wise folks like Jack Harris, Wilson Burton and Emol Fails spear-headed a drive to establish the Mocksville location.”

Greg has been attending CBC since 1966 as a camper and kitchen volunteer. Greg now serves on the executive committee and as the chairman of the CBC Bluegrass Festival. This is our largest single fundraiser for the camp each year. It is a year-long ongoing project. His job involves everything from securing artists, ordering wristbands, setting up the ticketing site, putting up posters and drafting contracts, to actually setting up tents and chairs, sweeping floors, and making sure autographs get signed. It keeps us busy but is well worth the effort.

Greg has been married to his wife, Lisa, since 1982. Lisa serves in the kitchen at camp. She is also the Executive Director and “go-to” person for the Bluegrass Festival. Their two sons also attended CBC and help with the festival each year. Greg is a deacon at Wilkesboro church of Christ in Wilkesboro, NC. He is the senior partner in his four-generation family law firm.

Caleb Clauset

“My (future) wife introduced me to CBC in 1994. It was Kirk Sams' week, and she and I were both counselors and team leaders. It was and continues to be such a great week with a strong focus on Bible knowledge and team competition. She and I were a great team, decisively winning the competition in 1994 and 1995 before Kirk made us compete against each other (where we came in #1 and #2…). It's fun to see our team's names emblazoned on the wall of glory in the dining hall… but it's even more special to see those campers back as parents and volunteers!”

Caleb has been attending CBC since 1994 as a camper, counselor, and teacher. He currently volunteers weeks 1 and 6 and serves on the communications committee on the board.

Caleb and his wife, Andrea, have been married since 1998. All three of their kids attend CBC as campers Weeks 1 and 7 while Caleb and Andrea volunteer Week 6. They love CBC and everything that it represents for their family. It truly is the place to be! Caleb is a deacon at South Fork church of Christ in Winston-Salem, NC. He works remotely for an Australian publishing software developer that designs solutions that are used all over the world to automate all sorts of documents (from travel guides to product manuals to financial disclosures and medical journals). It's given him the opportunity to both travel the world and to be more engaged with his family, church, and community.

Dennis Conner

“Two memories come to mind- I always loved Chester Rainwater leading us in “Arky, Arky” and Friday night singings, especially when we lift high our joined hands as we sing some of those powerful songs!”

Dennis first came to CBC as a camper in 1963 and has not missed a year since! Prior to becoming a weekly Director in 1988 he had served in various staff capacities as counselor, teacher, athletic director and educational director. He is now the director of Week 6 (Senior Week) and has served on the Board of Directors since 1982.

Dennis was married to Terre Crosslin for 35 years before she succumbed to cancer and then married Sherie Lutz in 2011. He has 6 grandchildren (three with Sherie). CBC has been a lifelong passion and has blessed him with many of his dearest friends. Sherie has served at Week 6 for many years. They met at CBC in 1975 and had been friends for 36 years when they married! Dennis has spent 45 years in ministry and recently retired as preacher of Brooks Avenue church of Christ in January 2022.

Stephen Flatt

“My wife and I were friends as campers at CBC and started dating after college. Many of my closest friends are from CBC. So many memories as a camper and staff, from watching friends being baptized, worship services/devos, bonding with campers in my cabin, and spending time with Chester Rainwater. It is no understatement to say that CBC changed my life and allowed me to grow closer to God.”

Stephen has been attending CBC since 1989 as a camper, counselor, teacher, kitchen volunteer, and head counselor. He currently serves as head counselor at Week 6, serves as Vice-Chair of the board, and is on the fundraising committee.

Stephen and his wife, Barbara, were married in 2005 and have two children who have experienced one week of camp as pre-campers so far. He is a deacon at NoDa Church of Christ in Charlotte, NC, and works as a police officer with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Bobby Grigsby

“Many of my most meaningful friendships are related to CBC.  My favorite times surround worship, particularly Week 6 Friday night singings.”

Bobby has been attending CBC since 1994, serving as a teacher and song leader. While he doesn’t work a particular week at this point, he usually gets to be at camp for some of every week since he is the “local” board member.

Bobby and his wife, Bonnie, have been married since 1991. Bonnie serves as head counselor for Week 6 and Winter Camp. Bobby has served as CBC’s treasurer since 2001. Keeping the bills paid means camp is a year-round event for him! Bobby is the Young Adult Minister at Jericho church of Christ in Mocksville, NC. He has been an optometrist for 31 years practicing just down the road from CBC in Salisbury, NC. This has allowed him to be of service for a few camper and staff eye emergencies and broken glasses through the years.

Eric Haskin

“I have come to know many great people and have become good friends with Andy King, Kirk Sams, and many others because of my time spent at CBC.”

Eric began attending CBC in 2014 as a counselor, teacher, and head counselor. He currently volunteers as head counselor Week 1, as a counselor at Winter Camp, and on the fundraising committee of the board. He hopes to continue volunteering every year in some capacity.

Eric and his wife, Amanda, have been married since 2001 and have 3 children. Amanda has been a teacher and head counselor at Week 1, and one of their children has been a kitchen worker, lifeguard, and counselor. Eric is the deacon of youth at church of Christ at Gold Hill Rd in Fort Mill, SC, and works as a solutions architect with Diebold Nixdorf solving problems and building custom customer products and service programs for large financial institutions.

Joseph Hodge

“Every time I attended camp as a camper, I went in knowing I was going to walk out having grown as a person, as a Christian, and in my relationships. What particularly stood out to me were the off-campus service opportunities that 6th Week provided to us. Dennis Conner and his staff always challenged us as campers to "walk the walk" and get outside our comfort zones rather than incubate ourselves from the world around us. CBC ultimately isn't about the week you attend, but what you do to make the world a better place in the time subsequent to your attendance. CBC, specifically Week 2 and Week 6, were incredibly formative to who I am today.”

Joseph has been attending CBC since 2013 as a camper, counselor, teacher, kitchen volunteer, and athletic director. He currently volunteers Week 2 with his wife, Julie. Together they serve as co-athletic directors and host events such as the much-expected basketball tournament, games of street hockey, posh awards show known as “The CBCs,” and occasionally a late-night talk show known as "2nd Week Tonight." Joseph serves on the communications committee of the board.

Joseph and his wife, Julie, have been married since 2016 and have 2 children who attend CBC as pre-campers. His dad was also a volunteer at Week 2 throughout his time as a camper. Joseph attends North Raleigh Church of Christ and works for First Citizens Bank as an environmental risk manager, ensuring that environmental liability and costs are minimized in the bank’s collateral portfolio.

Ben Womack

“My best memory is first attending camp at 9 years old.”

Ben began attending CBC in 1972 as a camper. He now serves as a volunteer at the Bluegrass Festival, working with the auction, and on the communication committee of the board.

Ben and his wife, Helen, have been married since 1986 and have two daughters. Helen has served in the kitchen at CBC and both children attended as campers. Ben is an elder at Mountain Island church of Christ in Charlotte, NC, and is a talent systems manager at Coke Consolidated.

Scott Woollens

Scott Woollens is a member of the Raleigh church of Christ with his wife, Carol Sue. Their children, Nate, Lyman and Ginny thrived in the CBC environment and made many long-lasting friendships there. Scott works for Pfizer Vaccines in Sanford, NC and Carol Sue is a full-time homemaker.
